For 13 clubs, 5 pairs (10 players) per club, with the home club to contribute a sixth, non-counting pair. With 12 or fewer clubs, 6 Pairs to compete (12 players) per club. Teams and handicaps must be sent to the League Secretary by Wednesday prior to the event to facilitate making the score sheet and scorecards. Should exceptional circumstances arise and an incomplete or no team be fielded at the Challenge, or a club has withdrawn from the Avon League, that club may still be liable for costs associated with the Challenge at the discretion of the host course. This must be notified to the League Secretary as soon as possible. By entering the Avon League, each member club at the start of each season of play in the League (usually around April 1st) agrees to contribute their share of the Trophy Fund for the League, Trophy and Challenge for that year
There shall be a shotgun start to the competition at 8:30 a.m., subject to revision by the host club.
Scoring: Pairs Better Ball Stableford. All pairs scores to count.
In the event of a tie, the result will be decided by the aggregate of the team cards. Back 9; back 6;back 3; back 1 etc
No Buggies are allowed unless the player has a severe disability or medical certificate. Only the player requiring buggy may use it and carry clubs. No other players or clubs allowed.
Any team late to the tee for the shotgun start shall forfeit points from holes missed. Should no marker be available, the other pair in the same group shall be allowed to mark their own scorecard until the late pair re-establishes their correct position on the course.
Captains are responsible for checking scorecards. Any cards reaching the scorers which have been completed incorrectly will incur a penalty of 5 points.
Pairs are only eligible to win one prize, the highest value prize that they win. Other prizes will be awarded to the next best pair who has not already won a prize.
Any clubs with missing lineups from the corresponding Avon League season will be assessed a 5 point team penalty per missing lineup, to be deducted from their total score.
