Golf Format
Team aggregate stableford.
18 Holes, Blue/White composite tees, Maximum course Handicap 18, 85% allowance of course handicap after conversion from handicap index using the slope rating for the host course.
5 Pairs to compete (10 players) per club. The host club will contribute a sixth pair as required to make the total number of players divisible by 4, but this pair will not count to the team score (still eligible for pairs and hole prizes). Teams and handicaps must be sent to the League Secretary by Wednesday prior to the event (September 25th) to facilitate making the score sheet and scorecards.
There shall be a shotgun start to the competition at 9:30 a.m., subject to revision by the host club.
Scoring: Pairs Better Ball Stableford, 85% allowance of course handicap after conversion from handicap index. All 5 scores to count. In the event that electronic on-course scoring is used, players are to input their own scores on to the electronic system and also mark a traditional card for their playing partners. Traditional scorecards marked by the opposing pair are required for scorecard verification. Failing to return a paper scorecard for verification will result in disqualification.
In the event of a tie, the result will be decided by the aggregate of the 5 cards. Back 9; back 6;back 3; back 1 etc
No Buggies are allowed unless the player has a severe disability or medical certificate. Only the player requiring buggy may use it and carry clubs. No other players or clubs allowed.
Any team late to the tee for the shotgun start shall forfeit points from holes missed. Should no marker be available, the other pair in the same group shall be allowed to mark their own scorecard until the late pair re-establishes their correct position on the course.
Players are responsible for checking paper scorecards. Any cards reaching the scorers which have been completed incorrectly will incur a penalty of 5 points.
Pairs are only eligible to win one prize, the highest value prize that they win. Other prizes will be awarded to the next best pair who has not already won a prize.
Any clubs with missing lineups from the corresponding Avon League season will be assessed a 5 point team penalty per missing lineup, to be deducted from their total score.
Player eligibility
(a) Players must be a current member of a currently participating club.
(b) For players who hold membership at multiple participating clubs, they should represent their “Home†club (i.e. the club at which their handicap is held).
(c) Should a player wish to represent an “Away†club (i.e. a club of which they are a current member but not the one where their handicap is held), they must first obtain the permission of the Committee of both their “Home†and “Away†clubs, in addition to the permission of the League Secretary.
(d) Players are only eligible to change their nominated club once in a calendar year. This applies across all Avon competitions.
(e) Should a club be found to be fielding an ineligible player, they will lose 20 points from their team total on the day and the ineligible player will be disqualified from winning any prizes.
Lunch & Presentation
Two-course meal (bbq buffet & dessert) following golf.
Dress code: Smart casual - no jeans, trainers or shirts without collars, etc.
Prize presentation at approx. 4:00pm.
Pairs are only eligible to win one prize, the highest value prize that they win. Other prizes will be awarded to the next best pair who has not already won a prize.
Costs
£31.50 per player for golf and food = £315 per Club.
No cheques or cash accepted, card on the day as The Vale is a cashless venue.
Additional £4 per player for the sweeps is included the season's Trophy costs. Approx. 50% of this will be spent in the golf shop at the host venue. £1 per player will be donated towards the Captain's Charity at the host club.
